Little Miss Bookmark

Oh, Unraveled. First of all, this I gave this 3.5 stars, but since that isn't an option, it gets 4 because I'm feeling generous right now. Why? I don't know. And please, take no offense with my review ... but this is me being completely honest.

This book frustrated me to no end. Keep in mind, I LOVED THE FIRST ONE!!! This one just left something to be desired. Don't get me wrong, it was good. It was really good. But that was with me skipping paragraphs because I just couldn't put myself through reading all of it. Showalter has an amazing idea with this series, she fulfilled my expectations with the first book but this one ... there was too much of something - explaining ... or ... I don't know what else. To me ... and please, take no offense ... but it felt like Showalter/her editor/the publishing co - someone - decided to see how far they could drag this book out.

"You know what? I haven't seen a 600 page teen book since Harry Potter, let's give that a go"

No. No. No. It got to be repetitive. Yes, we know that everyone hates Aden and that he doesn't want to be king. Yes, we know that Mary Ann is a good girl. I just wanted to chunk my book right out the window. I know it sounds like I really don't like the book, but I do! I can't imagine what this review would look like if I didn't like the book at all.

I finally figured it out!! LONG-WINDED!! That's the word that I was looking for earlier. Anyway. Summary: Good? Check. Follows the previous book? Check. Long-winded? A big, fat, bright red, CHECK!

I'm still going to read the next one. Someday. After I get over being mad at this one.
